Sweet Pocket Mama - SPM
Sweet Pocket Mama - SPM - is my first, full time elk call! I started years ago making a locator call to enable me to find the elk without a bugle. Over the years I have changed the call to sound more and more like either the estrus cow, or the lost calf. In time, I have found the way to mimic all of the normal herd sounds made as the herd moves between bedding and feeding areas. The idea being, lie in wait between the areas and ambush them. This small call has been a great call and with the invention of flipping the call to use it wood up, so the hard pallet of your mouth, the roof of your mouth, is on the wood forcing the air directly onto the pallet for sound, making the sounds and subtle calls has become easier and more realistic.
Now it is upgraded again to make the old call shaped exactly as the new calls are and with the new reed material. Now you have the sweetest, pocket size call, you can get your hands on and it is designed to make those herd sounds so you can locate the herd and slip in on them. At the same time, with the reed change, now the call can also make a quieter sound for more upclose work.
Now, a thinner and easier to use call. Designed to fit in the pocket, or, add a lanyard so it can remain around your neck. This year I added walnut calls, walnut is a bit harder than the cherry and makes a great medium pitch, but either way you can not go wrong SPM is the call for you if you want one, small, easy to use, locator call!
